Working with independent hardware stores gave me my first insight into day-to day aspects of retail and customer service. When a story had no photographs to accompany it, the editor and designer had to collaborate to make the story visually appealing. The editor for this story had the idea to draw out a “blueprint” of a store. I took her story and fit it into specific sections where safety hazards can occur inside and outside of a hardware store. The collaboration between the two of us resulted in a comprehensive visual guide that not only enhanced the story's presentation but also provided valuable insights for readers on potential safety concerns.
